Space Peptides is committed to be socially, financially, and environmentally responsible. Our strategic priority is the commitment to the environment.
A series of Chinese national and local environmental laws and regulations (2015 and onward) result in some of the strictest environmental protection.
Space Peptides is certified by the Chinese Environmental Protection Agency, is regularly inspected by environmental authorities and comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
Proactive commitment to the environment
Space Peptides is committed to be environmentally responsible and to continuously improve their environmental sustainability and performance. Importantly, Space Peptides work with suppliers and partners with high environmental awareness.
By using foremost our computational capabilities and focus only on a targeted few compounds that need to be synthetized, we participate in reducing the footprints of chemical synthesis in terms of resources and waste produced. Furthermore, we reduce our relative resource and energy consumption as well as environmental impacts incl. Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions by following the principles of sustainability and green chemistry. Finally, we assist in the 3R (Replacement, Refine, Reduce) during in vivo studies through the selection of only a few focused clinical candidates tested compared to traditional methods.
Waste and emissions
Waste production is being kept as low as possible for technical and occupational health reasons by managing the type and amount of raw materials used, the way they are applied, and optimization effort toward reuse and recycling. In peptide manufacture, especially critical is the waste recycling of Dimethylformamide (DMF), where we manage a 75% DMF recycling rate. Further, we are in geographical proximity and have direct access to the state-of-the-art chemical waste recycling infrastructure in Jiangsu, located 1 kilometer away from our manufacturing facility. Finally, our suppliers have system in place to prevent and mitigate accidental spills and releases to the environment.
Carbon dioxide (CO2) footprint
We are located in Jiangsu Coastal Economic Development Zone / Chemical Industrial Park, with many world-leading chemical production companies (e.g., BASF) sharing chemical production infrastructure in the park. For example, chemical waste are all handled locally.
We have geographical proximity to our suppliers (e.g., DMF, acetonitrile, amino acids, trifluoroacetic acid), typically within 300 – 500-kilometer geographical distance.
